The Pahalgam terror attack exposed Pakistan as a rogue state destabilising the region, and the world can no longer turn a blind eye to terrorism, India told the US on Thursday as the worldβs two largest democracies engaged at the highest levels over the strike that killed 26 people.
Union defence minister Rajnath Singh spoke to his US counterpart Pete Hegseth over the phone on Thursday, hours after secretary of state Marco Rubio spoke to external affairs minister S Jaishankar. Rubio also spoke to Pakistan prime minister Shehbaz Sharif. Read more

Why Punjab and Haryana are sparring over water-sharing again
Punjab and Haryana, who share a troubled past over the distribution of river waters, are daggers drawn yet again over the allocation of water from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). A series of meetings have taken place to resolve the deadlock but without any success. Punjab is seeking an increase in its allocations during May and June and has conversely capped Haryanaβs water share on grounds that the neighbouring state has exhausted its water share during the present cycle.
