The next big title leaping from YouTube to the big screen is Fathom Entertainment and Glitch Productions’ The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act. It opened Thursday with a reported $7.8M at 2,235 theaters. That looks to be enough to win the day, ahead of A24 it-pic Backrooms.
Deadline gave you an eye-popping weekend forecast of $15M-$18M earlier this week for Amazing Digital Circus. Turns out, distribution sources misjudged. What they were seeing was all presales, with the outlook now at around $9M-$10M over four days.
Created by Gooseworx, the adult animated Amazing Digital Circus follows a group of humans trapped inside a circus-themed virtual reality simulation, where they struggle with an erratic AI and personal traumas.
The series went viral following its 2022 launch and by the end of 2024, YouTube videos relating to Amazing Digital Circus clocked up massive viewing figures. The series then became available to stream a year later on Netflix and became one of the five most-viewed Netflix shows worldwide in its first two weeks of October 2024.>>>25B Views

Sitting in his offices in Pennsylvania as he preps the second season of his hit HBO crime drama series Task, creator-showrunner Brad Ingelsby is just now realizing he is hitting new career milestone: He’s writing new scripts for an old character he knows well.
Even though he’s been writing movies and TV shows set in the Delco County area going back to the 2010 thriller Out of the Furnace, the new season of Task marks the first time he is returning to a world he created, having never done a sequel or second season of a show. He says he is appreciating the new challenges that go with it.
