PRODUCERS REACH OUT TO TALENT FOR NEXT AUDITION ROUND |
Fans of the James Bond franchise are getting closer to finding out who will next play the iconic spy. Sources tell Deadline that producers and director Denis Villeneuve have begun informing talent about those that have made the next round of auditions, which will occur later this summer. Villeneuve has been calling talent directly and while Deadline has not been able to confirm any names, sources say the auditions are set to take place in August.
As for how many actors will test in August, while one source says they expect producers to cast a wide net, the exact number unknown, with some sources saying between 5-7. Others said in the teens. >>>Timetable

‘Ghostbusters’ Animated Series Team Say Their Show Sticks To Canon While Being “As Funny & Scary As Anything You’ve Ever Seen” From The Franchise

The creative team behind Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series want their show to “feel like our characters could walk off the television, onto a movie screen and interact with the pre-existing characters.”
Launching next year and titled Ghostbusters: Night Shift, the latest in the franchise is one of Netflix’s splashiest upcoming animated series. EP Amie Karp told Deadline she was “struck by the question” posed to her by the team, which was: “Can we make an animated series that is in canon?”
Above all else, co-showrunner Elliott Kalan, who said Ghostbusters runs through his “internal DNA,” made this his aim. The team behind the Dan Aykroyd-produced show revealed more at Annecy. >>>Read The Interview

Asa Butterfield will play The Beatles' manager Brian Epstein in a TV series chronicling the band’s early years. Butterfield is one of a handful of new additions to Hamburg Days, with Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting) joining as Paul McCartney’s father, Jim McCartney. Christine Tremarco (Adolescence) will play Aunt Mimi, John Lennon’s guardian.

🕯️David Clayton-Thomas, the Canadian singer whose gruff, soulful vocals for Blood, Sweat & Tears were an integral part of the band’s late-1960s success with such songs as "And When I Die, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel," died yesterday at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He was 84. 🕯️ Jeff Olson, a veteran visual effects producer and modelmaker who spent a quarter-century at Industrial Light and Magic and worked on projects including Star Wars prequel The Phantom Menace, Star Trek films and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, died June 21.
