Magnolias are beginning to blossom in the Arboretum. This Saturday, the Dane County Farmers' Market (DCFM) returns to the Square. On April 16, Memorial Union Terrace's beloved sunburst patio chairs will come out of storage — on the same day, the city will host a ribbon cutting for a new bike path. Is it finally safe to say that spring is here? (I'll admit that I was tricked by March's "false spring.")

Speaking of seasons ... have you been keeping up with LOVB Madison's? It's been a bit of a roller coaster: At the halfway point of the season, the team's 1-7 record put them last in the league. In a stunning comeback, the team went on a seven-match win streak to finish the regular season in third place. Earlier this week, four players (including former Badger Lauren Carlini and Sun Prairie's Claire Chaussee) were named to the league's all-star teams.

Can Madison's momentum carry them to the championship? We'll find out this weekend, starting with tonight's do-or-die quarterfinal match against LOVB Omaha at 6 p.m. CDT. If they move on to the semifinals, keep an eye on LOVB Madison's Instagram for information about a local watch party.

"In the 608" with News 3 Now's Josh Spreiter

The most recent highlights from Josh Spreiter's "In the 608" morning segment on News 3 Now

From Josh: It's one of the most exciting weekends of the year in Madison: The start of a new season for the Dane County Farmers' Market, the largest producers-only farmers' market in the country. On Wednesday, I interviewed Jamie Bugel, DCFM's market manager, about what to expect for Saturdays on the Square. This year, the market will have 216 members, with between 100 and 150 vending each weekend.

This week is Food Waste Prevention Week and The River Food Pantry (South Central Wisconsin's busiest food pantry) is partnering with AtlantisValley to ensure that no food goes to waste in our community. Tune in tomorrow to learn more.
