At a current year-to-date gross of $1.44 billion per Comscore, the domestic business is 11% behind last year for the period of January 1 to March 31. We’re also roughly $1.4 billion behind the same point in Q1 2018, which had cleared $2.8 billion by now. Motion picture studio executives – and the exhibition industry – are stuck in some seriously antiquated ways.
