Warner Bros. and Plan B Entertainment’s Mickey 17 had a $19.1M domestic opening and $43.6M global, for a running worldwide tally of $53.3M. That's not a great result, and fans of lavishly mounted original sci-fi are lamenting what the commercial performance could mean for future projects of its kind.
After Neon shepherded multi-hyphenate Bong Joon-ho‘s Parasite to multiple Oscar wins, including Best Picture, Warner Bros. decided to take a big swing on his next outing at a higher budget level. Unfortunately for stakeholders, the result isn’t going to cut it profit-wise, given the original sci-fi film’s $118M cost (not counting P&A).
That’s the conventional P&L outlook from the studio perspective, anyway. Though there are plenty of factors that are frustrating those at Warners who are shepherding the film as well as those who produced it – for one, the unequal playing field with Netflix's mega-budget Electric State. >>>Streaming-CInema Comps

Presidential Prequel- Starting today, Prime Video is streaming President Donald Trump‘s competition show The Apprentice in the U.S. The tech giant plans to make Seasons 1 to 7 available, launching a new one weekly through April 27. It's the first streaming deal for the series, which debuted on NBC in 2004 and gave Trump a media platform that would eventually enable him to enter politics.
