Microsoft Edge is testing a built-in crypto walletTech giant Microsoft is reportedly working on a non-custodial crypto wallet for its Edge web browser. In a Friday Twitter thread, software documenter Albacore shared a series of Edge user interface (UI) screenshots showing the early stages of Microsoft’s new Web3 wallet. ![]() Newest in the gauntlet of questionable upcoming Microsoft Edge features, a crypto wallet 💸 Not really sure how to feel about this kind of thing being baked into the default browser, what are your thoughts? More screenshots of the UI in the next tweet ➡️ Shortly after, Bleeping Computer reported that it had tested the wallet, which is most likely only available to Microsoft Edge Dev Channel users as part of a limited test phase. "This is a non-custodial wallet, meaning you are in complete control of your funds. We will not have access to your password and recovery key. It is embedded in Edge, making it easy to use without installing any extension," one of the screenshots read. "As a tester, you will use your own funds. In the event of loss of funds, Microsoft will not reimburse any loss. This is a confidential project and no details should be shared externally." Other screenshots show trading integrations with Coinbase and Moonpay, a decentralized application explorer, a news feed, and support for NFTs and crypto swaps. Bleeping Computer said Microsoft has partnered with Consensys—the parent company of MetaMask—to offer a built-in crypto swap feature between ether (ETH), Uniswap (UNI), the dai stablecoin (DAI), and the USD coin (USDC) and Tether (USDT) stablecoins. When asked for more details, a Microsoft spokesperson told BleepingComputer: “At Microsoft, we regularly test new features to explore new experiences for our customers. We look forward to learning and collecting feedback from customers but have nothing further to share at this time.” U.S. regulator sells most of Signature Bank's operationsA subsidiary of New York Community Bancorp has agreed to buy most of the operations of Signature Bank, the failed New York City-based lender. In a Sunday press release, The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) said the deal would see Flagstar Bank, the subsidiary, assume “substantially all” of Signature’s deposits and a total of $38.4 billion worth of the company’s assets. NYCB will also take over all 40 of Signature’s bank branches, which will be rebranded as Flagstar branches. Notably, Flagstar Bank's bid did not include $4 billion of deposits related to Signature’s crypto unit Signet. The FDIC will return these deposits to account holders, according to the press release. As compensation for the deal, NYCB is granting the FDIC the right to buy shares in NYCB that could be worth as much as $300 million. The FDIC said it expects Signature Bank's failure to cost the deposit insurance fund $2.5 billion, but that figure may change as the regulator sells off assets. LinksDAO wins bid to buy Scottish golf clubLinksDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) for golf enthusiasts, is one step closer to purchasing its first golf club. On Thursday, the DAO secured the winning bid to purchase Spey Bay Golf Club, an oceanside 18-hole golf course in Scotland. “We're extremely excited about this development for our membership, greater community, and friends throughout web3 and hope to close on the property within the month,” LinksDAO CEO Jim Daily told CoinDesk. While Spey Bay’s seller listed the property at $905,000, a report from Golf Digest suggests the final sale price is expected to be higher. LinksDAO put in the bid following a community vote in February that saw 88.6% of 4,300 LinksDAO members vote in favor of putting in an offer. In January 2022, LinksDAO successfully sold out of its NFT memberships, raising $10.5 million to create the “world's greatest golf community.” Get ClickUp for free—no credit card needed! One tool does it all—ClickUp offers all the features you need in one platform: Tasks, Docs, Whiteboards, Dashboards, Goals… and more!
