The Indian Air Force (IAF) jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defence (AD) systems to launch a series of precision strikes on terror and military targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) between May 7 and 10 as part of Operation Sindoor, the government said on Wednesday.
The revelation about the air force crippling Pakistan’s air defences came hours after the Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met to review the security dynamics on the western border following the May 10 understanding that ended four days of fierce fighting with the neighbouring country. Why India rejects China bid to rename Arunachal spots?
India on Wednesday rejected China’s move to rename 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh, saying such “vain and preposterous” actions will not change the reality of the state being an integral and inalienable part of the country.
On May 11, China’s civil affairs ministry renamed 27 places in Arunachal Pradesh, including 15 mountains, four passes, two rivers, a lake and five inhabited areas. This was the fifth time China has renamed places in Arunachal Pradesh, and the first such move since the two countries reached an understanding last October to end a more than four-year-long military standoff in Ladakh sector of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Since the cessation of hostilities, multiple voices in the government have spoken about a new normal in the India-Pakistan dynamic. A key aspect of this is that the only point of contention in the bilateral ties that India is willing to discuss with Pakistan is the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
